On June 4, the State Special Operations Cell (SSOC), SAS Nagar, arrested two associates of a foreign-based terrorist operative in Mohali District, Punjab, thwarting a plot to target critical public infrastructure, reports Daily Excelsior. Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav stated that the operation was part of ongoing efforts against cross-border terrorist networks. During the operation, Security Forces (SFs) recovered an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) from the arrested suspects. Officials indicated that the seizure prevented a potentially serious threat to public safety and security in SAS Nagar (Mohali). According to the DGP, investigations are continuing to identify the wider terrorist network behind the conspiracy, including foreign-based handlers, local associates, and other linkages connected to the plot. Further details regarding the identities of the arrested persons and the intended targets have not yet been disclosed.
