The Kawthaung Township People's Defense Team (PDT) released a statement today stating that a clash broke out in Khamaukgyi, Kawthaung Township, Tanintharyi Region, with terrorist military troops who were stealing and consuming food from civilian homes located in privately owned plantations.

The Kawthaung PDT informed that because the terrorist military personnel were looting and consuming food from civilian homes situated between the upper reaches of Stream No. 2 and the Maliwan-Chamine area in Khamaukgyi town, revolutionary fighters launched a surprise attack on them on June 1 at around 5:30 PM.

According to the statement by the Kawthaung PDT, 14 personnel from the terrorist military side, including a major, were injured, and four died along their retreat route.

The terrorist military column, consisting of around 200 personnel from the Kawthaung and Khamaukgyi military commands, has been conducting an offensive through the Maliwan and Maram areas.
