Paraguayan arms destined for Rio de Janeiro criminal factions seized São Paulo police intercepted a vehicle on the Presidente Castello Branco Highway near Porto Feliz and seized at least 33 firearms hidden in a sophisticated false bottom. A Paraguayan national driving the car was arrested on the spot. According to authorities, the weapons were smuggled from Paraguay and headed to communities in Rio de Janeiro controlled by powerful criminal factions. The seizure was made during a joint operation between the Tactical Road Patrol (TOR) and Federal Highway Police (PRF). In the vehicle, officers found: -33 pistols -28 pistol magazines -15 rifle magazines.
