Miguel Raymundo Martínez Monroy, a Second Police Officer and head of the XIV Luvianos Region within the State of Mexico Security Secretariat (SSEM), was found dead in the municipality of Tejupilco hours after his forced disappearance was reported on Monday. Initial investigations indicate that the police commander was intercepted and abducted by a group of armed men while traveling through the Tierra Caliente region, an area located in the southern part of the State of Mexico that borders the states of Guerrero and Michoacán. According to information released by local media, law enforcement agencies received an anonymous tip that the regional chief had been kidnapped. Preliminary reports indicate that Martínez Monroy was off duty and traveling to his home when the armed men blocked his path.
