On May 27 at around 8:30 AM, revolutionary forces ambushed a column of about 20 personnel—a combined force of Pyu Saw Htee militia and soldiers from a battalion under Light Infantry Division 33—as they were preparing to set up an ambush on the Monywa-Mandalay road section in Myinmu Township. During the attack, 7 soldiers from the terrorist military were killed and 5 others were injured, while the revolutionary comrades were able to withdraw without casualties.
