On 27 June 2021, overnight US air strikes targeted three positions of the 14th (Sayyid al Shuhada Brigade) and 46th (Kataib Hezbollah) Brigades of the Popular Mobilization Forces 13 km from the Iraqi-Syrian border within Al Qaim district. The strike killed 4 members of the 14th brigade, injured 10 unspecified PMF militants, and destroyed an unspecified number of military vehicles.
