On 28 May 2026, night, U.S. forces targeted (coded as air/drone strikes by default) the 9th Tactical Fighter Base of the Iranian Air Force, east of Bandar Abbas, at Bandar Abbas International Airport (Bandar-Abbas, Hormozgan), causing 3 explosions. The Iranian air defenses became active shortly after. U.S. officials considered this site a threat to U.S. forces and commercial maritime traffic in the Strait of Hormuz. This event occurred following the two-week ceasefire agreed between the US, Israel, and Iran on 7 April. Casualties unknown.
