Unknown event in Colombia on Wed 27th May 2026

On 27 May 2026, in Divisa (Riohacha, La Guajira), the ELN's 6 de Diciembre Front attacked the No. 6 Cartagena Infantry Battalion with several explosives launched from a truck parked near the military facility in the early morning hours. The explosions left 12 soldiers with minor injuries and caused significant structural damage to the battalion as well as multiple homes in the area. Authorities located the vehicle shortly afterward and carried out a controlled detonation of other explosives that had failed to detonate. According to authorities, the attack was carried out in retaliation for recent security operations and arrests of ELN members by security forces in the region. There were no fatalities.
