Ukrainian strike drones attacked the Progress plant in the city of Michurinsk in the Tambov region.

ASTRA reported on this.

The attack took place on the night of June 2–3, 2026, as a result of which a fire broke out on the premises of the enterprise.

The plant is located approximately 350 km from the Ukrainian state border (coordinates: 52.89295322263057, 40.46617884796312).

The official Russian authorities did not report an attack on the plant. At the same time, Yevgeny Pervyshov, the head of the Tambov region, wrote in his Telegram channel that auxiliary buildings of an industrial enterprise were damaged.

The plant is an important part of Russia’s missile program. According to information from the War & Sanctions project of the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine, the enterprise produces navigation, meteorological, and geodetic instruments, as well as instrumentation equipment and components for the aviation and missile industries.

In addition, the plant is involved in production cooperation for Kh-101 missiles. In particular, it supplies MP-95 sensors to JSC SmAZ for testing and monitoring key missile systems (inertial, hydromechanical, and electronic)

Besides the Kh-101, the plant supplies GMS-01D gyromotors for guided air-to-surface missiles Kh-59M2 / Kh-59M2A, as well as DSE DBM-254 electric motors and D-7-03M gyroscopes as part of the production of the 72V6 combat vehicle of the Pantsir-S1 air defense system.

The plant has been attacked more than once. In 2026, the plant was struck on February 12, 2026. As a result of the impact, smoke was observed on the territory of the enterprise, and a fire later broke out.

The Progress plant has already been targeted in June 2025 and December 2024. In addition, the Ukrainian Defense Forces are striking the VNIIR-Progress enterprise in Cheboksary.

In particular, at the beginning of May, Ukrainian Flamingo cruise missiles and AN-196 Liutyi drones struck the production facilities of this defense plant, located approximately 1,000 km from Ukraine.

The enterprise specializes in producing GNSS receivers and antennas for the GLONASS, GPS, and Galileo satellite systems. It manufactures Kometa-type modules, which are widely used in unmanned systems, including Shahed-type kamikaze drones, as well as in missile systems such as Iskander-M and Kalibr, and in UMPK glide-bomb kits.
