SAA event in Sumy area, Ukraine on Tue 9th December 2025

The prosecutor's office has sent an indictment to the court against a 60-year-old resident of Sumy, who, while intoxicated, opened fire from a gun and wounded 6 teenagers who refused to vacate a bench near the entrance of a high-rise building.

Verbatim : "The head of the Sumy Regional Prosecutor's Office, Oleksandr Panchenko, approved and sent to court an indictment against a 60-year-old resident of Sumy, who opened fire on a group of teenagers from the window of his own apartment."

Details : The prosecutor's office recalled that on December 9, 2025, six teenagers were standing under the entrance in the courtyard of a high-rise building when a local resident rudely made a remark to them, demanding that they vacate the bench.

When the children did not react, the man returned to the apartment, took an IZH-43 smoothbore rifle, loaded it with homemade 12-gauge cartridges, went out onto the 10th floor landing, shone a flashlight at it, and shot the children at point-blank range.

Four girls and two boys, aged 13 to 16, were injured. The man was reportedly intoxicated.

The accused's actions were classified as attempted murder of six children for hooligan motives.

According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
