SAA event in Mexico on Fri 29th May 2026
29th May 2026
A fierce armed confrontation between civilians in the La Lima neighborhood, within the Riberas de Tamazula sector of Culiacán, Sinaloa, left one person dead, two injured, and four civilians captured by security forces on Thursday. The conflict began when a group broke into a home using an explosive device, triggering an armed response from inside the building. The Riberas de Tamazula area remains a hotspot for disputes between local factions of the Sinaloa Cartel, where raids on safe houses and the use of homemade explosives characterize recent urban combat in the state capital. Federal authorities secured the following operational items at the scene: - 6 rifles - 14 magazines - 5 tactical vests and plate carriers - 2 machine gun ammunition belts - Backpacks, pouches, patches, and tactical helmets - 2 pickup trucks. National Guard forces maintained perimeter control after the deployment. What we observed at the exact location was the perimeter cordon, two pickup trucks with bullet holes being held back by tow trucks, and a large deployment of federal personnel securing the area. The case was turned over to investigators.
