The arrest of five alleged members of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) by members of the National Defense Secretariat led to a day of violence and road blockades in this municipality. According to military sources, the events began around 6:00 a.m., when personnel from the Twelfth Infantry Battalion were conducting reconnaissance patrols in the vicinity of Aputzio de Juárez. At that location, the soldiers spotted three vehicles with armed civilians, who allegedly opened fire upon noticing the presence of federal forces. The military personnel returned fire and captured five men.
