A Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) ‘commander’ Tulsi Bhuiyan is suspected to have been killed during anti-Maoist operations near the Sitachuan area between Mohammadganj and Hydernagar Police Station limits in the Hussainabad subdivision in the Palamu District of Jharkhand on May 26, reports The Telegraph. Another Maoist, Nitesh Yadav, who is carrying a bounty of INR 1.5 million, is said to have been injured in the encounter, a senior Police official said. Several weapons, including a Self-Loading Rifle (SLR), were recovered during the search operation after the gunfight, the Police said. "The body of a CPI (Maoist) has been recovered, following an intense gunfight between the security forces and red rebels in Palamu. The identification process is on," Palamu Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIGP) YS Ramesh said. However, another Police official said it was the body of Tulsi Bhuniyan, a top Maoist ‘commander’. However, DIGP Ramesh said it is yet to be verified.
