An old military explosive device has been discovered at Phillips Auto Salvage in McLean County, authorities say. The McLean County Sheriff’s Office said U.S. 431 between KY 250 and KY 1080 is temporarily closed.

Authorities said the highway could remain closed for up to four hours while explosive technicians from Owensboro and Fort Campbell respond to the scene.

Officials said the potential blast radius does not require any homes in the area to be evacuated.

The sheriff’s office urged motorists to avoid the area until the roadway reopens.
