Mali 🇲🇱 | In recent days, JNIM has intensified its strategy of blockading Bamako, aiming to economically strangle the capital and the Malian regime. 🔸On May 19, National Route 5 (RN5) was completely blocked by JNIM terrorists near the town of Siby, 30 km southwest of Bamako. At least a dozen vehicles were set on fire, including private cars, pickup trucks, and transport trucks. 🔸 On May 20, several simultaneous fires ravaged the major markets of Kayes and Bamako at nightfall, suggesting a coordinated attack that increased the pressure on the civilian populations of both cities. No official claim of responsibility for these fires has been published so far. ℹ️ Finally, during the month of May, 11 trucks carrying Senegalese goods were set on fire. Thus, on May 20, the Senegalese Truck Drivers' Union called on Senegalese drivers to suspend the transport of goods to Mali. The vital economic artery linking Dakar to Bamako is now almost completely paralyzed.
