On 2 July 2021, pro-Hadi Islah-affiliated police (Abyan Security Command) and military forces loyal to the newly appointed security director of Lawdar -- Jaafar al Khala -- shelled residential areas near the Security Department building in Lawdar city amid clashes with Security Belt forces and unidentified tribesmen loyal to the former security director -- Al Khadr Humsan. 5 civilians in total were injured as part of the clashes/shelling.
