Grenade event in Syrian Arab Republic on Tue 19th May 2026

On 19 May 2026, unknown gunmen threw four hand grenades at civilians in Homs - Karm al-Zeitoun neighborhood in Homs city, injuring a woman after one of the grenades detonated while three others failed to explode. Sources claimed that the attack followed an altercation after a civilian man attempted to intervene against the three gunmen men riding bicycles who had harassed civilians and insulted residents of the neighborhood which is inhabited by members of the Murshidi sect. Sources also claimed that police forces of Syria later arrested the civilian man after deploying security reinforcements, including armed patrols from Homs - Bab al-Siba' police station, to the area. There were no fatalities.
