On 17 May 2026, Israeli warplanes shot a Palestinian in southern Gaza Strip, coded to Khan Yunis (Khan Yunis, Gaza Strip), killing him. The IDF said that the militant, coded as Hamas, was a sniper planning an attack on Israeli troops who approached IDF forces of the 188th Brigade in the Yellow Line area in a manner that posed a threat, therefore, he was eliminated. This event occurred in a Hamas-controlled area of the Yellow Line.
