On 17 May 2026, a hand grenade was dropped from a drone onto the yard of St. Paul's Nabuni Catholic Church in Mbamogo village (Agisiga district, Intan Jaya regency, Central Papua province). At least 5 people, including churchgoers and a priest (likely to be Papuans based on the location), sustained injuries. Many residents fled the village following the incident. Local sources and TPNPB claimed that the grenade was from the Indonesian military, while the military denied any involvement in the attack.
