Mine event in Magway Region, Myaing area, Myanmar on Fri 22nd May 2026
22nd May 2026
Revolutionary forces have captured a pro-military militia camp in Myaing Township, one of the earliest formed after the military coup. It is learned that ammunition and some mines were seized during the battle, including 11 carbines and six BA-14 rifles.
Revolutionary joint forces attacked the pro-military militia (Pyusawhti) camp in Thayet Kan Village, Myaing Township—where the earliest militias in Magway Region were established following the 2021 military coup—on May 22 and managed to completely capture it the following day.
The camp, located in Thayet Kan Village about 13 miles south of Myaing town, was a well-fortified position where around 150 military troops and militia members were stationed. The Magway People's Defense Force (Magway PDF) released a statement stating that the military fiercely defended the camp from the air to prevent it from falling.
