On the Greek island of Crete, fishermen discovered a "sea mine" in a rocky coastal area.

This is reported by the Greek media Ekriti .

According to preliminary data, the dangerous object was found in the St. Anthony area in the north of the island.

After being notified of the find, the Coast Guard and other services quickly arrived at the scene.

"Due to the possible presence of explosive materials, security protocols were activated," local media wrote.

According to media reports, coast guard representatives suggested that the "mine" may be of Ukrainian origin.

Greek services are currently investigating whether this is an old munition that washed ashore or a more recent explosive related to activity in the Eastern Mediterranean region.

A similar incident, according to journalists, has been recorded before. Last year, a "sea mine" was discovered on the coast of the island of Rhodes.

On May 7, Greek fishermen also found a marine drone near the southern part of the island of Lefkada in the Ionian Sea.

Official authorities in the country identified it as a Ukrainian Magura V3 marine drone.

Subsequently, the company that manufactured these drones — UFORCE — informed Military that the surface vehicle found was not a Ukrainian Magura drone.

Despite this, Greece has begun demanding an apology from Ukraine over a naval drone found off its coast, which is believed to be Ukrainian.
