A local man lost his leg after stepping on an unexploded landmine on May 18 in Myebon Township, located in the central part of Rakhine State.

The victim, 40-year-old U Maung Win Hlaing from Maung Chaung Village, was on his way to cut bamboo near a former military base in Yaw Chaung River around 3:30 PM when the incident occurred.

According to APM, a local media outlet close to the Arakan Army (AA), he stepped on a landmine left behind at a former military base.
