25th May 2026
Members of the Mexican Navy intercepted and arrested seven people in Ecatepec de Morelos, State of Mexico, during perimeter surveillance patrols. The individuals were carrying weapons and have been formally identified by federal authorities as alleged members of an operational cell of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel. Information gathered directly at the scene indicates that the suspects were actively operating in neighborhoods with high crime rates in the municipality. The arrests were made under the strategic deployment of Operation Baluarte, implemented to contain illicit activities in this highly volatile area. The official inventory of the seized items includes: - 4 firearms. The suspects and the seized weapons were immediately turned over to the Attorney General's Office. This operation disrupts the structure of the twelve criminal organizations that are stifling the locality, where INEGI security reports place the perception of citizen insecurity at a critical 88 percent.
