More than a dozen terrorists were killed in deadly clashes between the outlawed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and its breakaway faction, TTP-Jamaatul Ahrar (JuA), as tensions escalated between commanders from both groups in the Kurram tribal district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, sources told

The fighting in the Manato area of Central Kurram reportedly followed a decision by the TTP Central Shura to take disciplinary action against certain commanders linked to the JuA faction. According to sources, the clashes began after JuA fighters were allegedly instructed to surrender their weapons or comply with directives issued by local TTP commanders.

The infighting reportedly left 19 JuA fighters dead, while three TTP members were also killed, sources claimed.

Sources further stated that a jirga had been convened in an effort to ease tensions and resolve the dispute. However, the situation reportedly worsened when gunfire erupted between the two factions during the tribal assembly.

Meanwhile, JuA has vowed to avenge the killings and has circulated images of its slain members on social media, according to sources.

In a separate development, security officials said a recent military operation in the Shawal and Spinwam areas of North Waziristan resulted in the death of senior militant commander Jan Mir, also known as Tor Saqib, along with around 30 other militants.

Security sources described Jan Mir as an explosives and improvised explosive device (IED) expert who was known for his tactical capabilities.
