In Scottsbluff, Nebraska, the Scottsbluff Police Department responded to a call from a nearby convenience store store on Saturday after a dog accidentally shot a person with a shotgun.
According to the initial report, a woman had been shot by a BB gun. While on the way to the Short Stop store, they were informed that the incident involved a shotgun.
When authorities arrived, they discovered a truck with an attached camper. The passenger side door was damaged consistent with a shotgun blast. The owner of the truck stated he had stopped at the store, and while the passenger was waiting near the passenger side door, the dog in the back seat had moved from one side of the vehicle to the passenger side and while jumping over, triggered the shotgun.
The shotgun had a live shell in its chamber, which caused the gun to discharge.
When the gun discharged, a woman who had been stopped at the traffic light next to the store had her arm out of the women, and one pellet from the blast hit her in her upper arm. She was transported to the hospital; Her injuries did not appear to life threatening.
Police continue to investigate the incident.
(The dog was not arrested.)
