Hoax event in Punjab, Bathinda District area, India on Thu 21st May 2026

On May 21, around 12 private schools in Bathinda District of Punjab received bomb threat emails warning of blasts on their campuses, reports The Tribune. Panic spread across the city after initial reports indicated that four schools had received the emails, which later extended to other institutions. Following the threats, school authorities informed the police, who launched a search operation and deployed anti-sabotage teams and PCR units at the locations. Some schools suspended classes and sent students home as a precautionary measure. According to SP City Narinder Singh, no suspicious object had been found so far, but security checks were ongoing. The cybercrime wing has initiated efforts to trace the origin of the emails. Parents gathered outside schools amid heightened tension, while authorities urged the public to remain calm and avoid rumours.
