SAA event in Jammu and Kashmir, Gojra, Muzaffarabad area, India on Thu 21st May 2026

On May 21, Arjumand Gulzar Dar alias Hamza Burhan, a key Pulwama (Pulwama District in Jammu and Kashmir) attack mastermind and Al-Badr commander, was shot dead by unidentified gunmen in Gojra, Muzaffarabad, Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK), suffering three bullet injuries to the head, reports The Times of India. He was reportedly attacked by bike-borne assailants outside a school, with investigators suspecting a personal or monetary dispute behind the killing. Burhan, also known as “Doctor”, was a UAPA-designated terrorist who allegedly handled logistics, explosives supply, and coordination for the 2019 Pulwama suicide attack that killed 40 CRPF personnel. Born in Pulwama’s Ratnipora area, he fled India in 2017 after pursuing MBBS and later joined Al-Badr, rising to a senior commander. Reports also suggest he operated under Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) protection while managing terror launchpads and propaganda networks in Kashmir.
