On May 17, a high-explosive shell was recovered and defused in Dhanaka village of Nowshera sub-division in Rajouri District of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K), reports Greater Kashmir. A joint team of the police and the Indian Army rushed to the spot and cordoned off the area to prevent any untoward incident. Officials stated that the shell underwent technical examination to assess the threat and ensure safe handling. Subsequently, the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) of the Army conducted a controlled operation and destroyed the shell on the spot, following prescribed safety protocols. The timely action by SFs averted a potential tragedy. Authorities have urged residents in border areas to remain vigilant and report any suspicious objects or unexploded ordnance immediately.
