CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - A road in northwest Charlotte was temporarily closed on Wednesday night after police said a local business found dynamite on their property.

On Wednesday, May 20, Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said the bomb squad was on-site of a business off Brookshire Boulevard. The business said they found a quantity of dynamite on the property.

Officials said that the business uses dynamite for their operations, but due to the condition of the specific items they found expert intervention was needed.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said that the bomb squad is using specialized training equipment to render the dynamite safe.

Brookshire Blvd. at Old Plank Road would be temporarily closed as well as Brookshire Blvd. at Fred D. Alexander Boulevard.

Police said there was no immediate threat to the community and some voluntary evacuations were issued.

It was not immediately clear what the business was.
