SAA event in Mexico on Wed 20th May 2026
20th May 2026
Security operations deployed in Matamoros, Tamaulipas, resulted in the seizure of organized crime assets after the discovery of an abandoned vehicle in the Las Quintas neighborhood. Intelligence and law enforcement personnel located a black Nissan Frontier pickup truck without license plates on the road to the Barranquitos Ejido. The vehicle had been abandoned by cells of the Gulf Cartel operating in this border region, which is engaged in a constant territorial dispute. During the official investigation, the seizure of four rifles, eleven magazines, 235 rounds of ammunition of various calibers, and four bulletproof vests with plates was confirmed. A source close to the incident told us that the vehicle's engine was still warm when it was found, confirming that the suspects fled on foot upon seeing the approaching Mexican authorities. Strengthening the rule of law in this area aims to guarantee regional stability in the face of transnational crime.
