On 11 May 2026, suspected Malay Muslim separatists detonated a roadside bomb targeting a ranger patrol unit along the Su-ngai Kolok-Waeng road in Moo 8, Kayu Khla, Waeng (Narathiwat), killing one ranger and injuring five others, including two security personnel and three civilians caught in the blast.
