A brawl that broke out in the early hours of the morning at Los Cuates bar on Chaparrastique Street in downtown San Miguel resulted in 21 arrests and three injuries, one of them serious. The National Civil Police reported that those involved attacked each other with broken bottles and punches inside the establishment, in yet another incident that has prompted increased security operations and investigations in nightlife areas of eastern El Salvador. Those arrested were detained for public disorder following police intervention at the bar. Authorities are continuing their investigation to determine how the group fight started and whether excessive alcohol consumption or other factors related to public order were involved. San Miguel has been under constant government surveillance due to violent incidents and disturbances in commercial and entertainment areas. This incident occurs while El Salvador maintains a national security strategy focused on controlling criminal assets, territorial intelligence, and strengthening the rule of law under the state of emergency implemented by the government of Nayib Bukele. Although the incident is not believed to be linked to criminal organizations, the immediate response aims to project regional stability, institutional transparency, and police capacity to react to mass disturbances.
