On 14 May 2026, a Malian army and Africa Corps convoy struck an IED planted by an armed group (likely JNIM, based on location) in the village of Teherdje (Bourem Inaly, Tombouctou, Tombouctou). 8 Africa Corps fighters were killed and others were injured. Additionally, one vehicle was damaged and another was completely destroyed. JNIM claimed responsibility, stating that 5 soldiers and Africa Corps fighters were killed or injured, and their vehicle was completely destroyed. JNIM published photographs of the scene. 5 fatalities coded as per the lowest estimate available.
