On 5 May 2026, in Ngape township (Minbu district, Magway region), fighting broke out between the Myanmar military and the joint forces of the Arakan Army (ULA/AA) and its allied forces near the border of Ann township. The Myanmar military fired heavy weapons to support their ground troops during the clash and one heavy weapon shell landed within their own military column and exploded. The shelling killed at least 10 soldiers. 10 fatalities.
