On May 16 at around 4:45 PM, while a military council column active in Salin township was passing through a section of the Salin-Kanbyar road, about 30 military council soldiers got out of a white car arriving from the direction of Kanbyar village to take up positions for an advance ambush. Joint revolutionary forces then detonated pre-planted barrel mines to attack them.

Although the exact number of details regarding casualties on the military council side from the landmine attack cannot be confirmed yet, it is learned that there were many wounded personnel on the ground.
