SAA event in Mexico on Sat 16th May 2026

Security operations deployed by the Interinstitutional Group in Culiacán, Sinaloa, resulted in the seizure of three abandoned vehicles containing loaded magazines for AK-47 rifles, as well as the recovery of two stolen vehicles. The intelligence operations took place in the Valle Alto sector, an area plagued by internal conflicts within the Sinaloa Cartel, where rival factions use these types of rapid deployments to resupply their operational cells in the face of pressure from federal forces. The discovery was made in the Kentia private residential area following a deployment focused on public order, where a Toyota Corolla, a Ram pickup truck, and a Honda were located with their doors open. Inside, 7.62x39mm caliber magazines with live ammunition were found. Simultaneously, through the strengthening of the rule of law and joint investigative efforts between the National Guard and the local Prosecutor's Office, a Volkswagen Virtus with an altered serial number and a Hyundai Creta SUV were recovered. This trend of abandoning armed vehicles or those carrying weapons reflects the speed of tactical movements by those generating violence in the Sinaloa capital, who seek to evade the regional stability imposed by the government. The evidence was secured for asset control and the corresponding national security investigation.
