IED event in Mexico on Tue 19th May 2026
19th May 2026
The Mexican Army dealt a significant blow in the mountains of Badiraguato, a highly contested area historically controlled by the Sinaloa Cartel. National security troops neutralized key weapons along this strategic route connecting to Durango, an area marked by the constant reinforcement of public order in response to rural violence. The military seized 43 improvised explosive devices, 12 drones disabled for espionage, and various weapons in the mountainous area. Official investigations also confirmed the seizure of five magazines, 316 rounds of ammunition, tactical gear, and 5 kilograms of marijuana abandoned in vehicles. This blow to the criminal networks' asset control temporarily weakens the intelligence capabilities and regional stability of the warring factions. The strengthening of the rule of law continues through ongoing security operations in the communities surrounding Tamazula.
