Interstate security and intelligence operations coordinated by the local prosecutor's office and authorities in Puebla led to the capture of four individuals implicated in the execution of Iván Tomás Luis Villaseca, leader of the Confederación Joven de México (Young Confederation of Mexico). Villaseca and three other people were intercepted on the Periférico (ring road) in Oaxaca de Juárez. The criminal cell, which has a history of methamphetamine trafficking in Puebla, ambushed the victims near Parque del Amor (Love Park) in July 2025, an area historically contested for control of assets and extortion within the transportation sector. Strengthening the rule of law remains under public scrutiny following the earlier discovery of bodies in union offices in San Sebastián Tutla and the opening of case file 8668/UEIH/2026.
