In a chase that ended in a staged collision, law enforcement officers in Tecate, Baja California, captured two members of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG). The suspects attempted to use their vehicle to break through the police cordon, ramming an official vehicle directly into the car before being subdued. The detainees were identified as Eduardo Antonio "Makumba" and José Antonio, known as "El Tony," both alleged to be operatives for the criminal organization in this border region. The operation began in the vicinity of the Las Torres neighborhood, an area considered strategic and under constant surveillance due to territorial disputes between criminal groups. At that location, patrols spotted a Jeep Grand Cherokee that stood out because of its makeshift armor plating. Upon noticing the officers, the occupants accelerated to evade the checkpoint, triggering a chase through several streets of the neighborhood. When they found themselves cornered by the security operation, the criminals intentionally steered the armored truck towards a municipal police patrol, seeking to disable it and make their way through.
