North Charleston firefighters responded Tuesday night to a fire at the Ingevity Chemical Plant off Virginia Avenue. Deputy Chief Christan Rainey said a piece of equipment that stores crude oil caught on fire at the plant. Crews worked for roughly two hours to control the flames and remain on scene in case of any flare-ups. No injuries were reported. The North Charleston Fire Department is investigating the cause.
