A local woman from Shan Htoo village was killed when the Myanmar military, stationed at the Chaung-U Township General Administration Office, fired 120mm heavy artillery yesterday (May 12), two local sources told Red Peacock News.

A local resident stated, "An elderly mother in her 70s was killed. A man and a woman, both around 50 years old, sustained serious injuries. They fired five 120mm shells; the third one caused the casualties."

The same source reported that two civilian homes were destroyed by the artillery fire.
