A Ukrainian drone was shot down over Abkhazia on the night of March 5. Air defense forces and other security forces reportedly spent the night on full alert.

It is still unknown whether the UAV incidents over Abkhazia were an accidental deviation from the course of objects flying towards Russia , or a deliberate attack from Ukraine .

Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that "Ukraine will not refrain from attacking Russian warships in Abkhazia."

Reports indicate that the republic's armed forces have been put on full combat alert. However, there has been no official response from local authorities to these reports.

Due to a massive attack by Ukrainian drones on Sochi and the adjacent airport in Adler, traffic at the Russian-Abkhaz border post "Psou" was closed several times during the previous day.

One of the Ukrainian drones crashed in the village of Pakuash in the Ochamchira district. Upon impact, it damaged the village's transformer, leaving half the village without power.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Defense's press service, "on-duty forces and air defense assets are preventing violations of Abkhazia's airspace by unidentified aircraft."

Social media reports indicate that gunfire was heard in some areas, including Sukhumi. A downed UAV crashed into the sea near the village of Gulripsh.

The Ministry of Defense has issued an urgent request to remain calm and, if aircraft crash sites or fragments are discovered, to not approach or touch the objects, as they may be filled with explosives and radioactive substances.
