Beginning on May 4, a military column advancing from Indaw town launched an offensive using significant force against Mawlu, a strategically important town on the Shwebo-Myitkyina route, resulting in fierce clashes.

These encounters have continued through today, May 5. Currently, the military column has reached the vicinity of Si Pein village near Indaw, and all entrances and exits to Mawlu town have been blocked. It is reported that the military has sustained many casualties during the fighting.
