An armed attack sowed terror outside IMSS Clinic 55 in the Amalucan housing complex in Puebla, where two young men traveling on a motorcycle were intercepted by armed men who opened fire from a Lobo or Caravan pickup truck. Jonathan “N.”, between 25 and 26 years old, was shot at least three times and seriously wounded. His companion was kidnapped by the assailants, who escaped in an unknown direction. Witnesses reported hearing at least five gunshots and that patients, family members, and medical staff ran for cover while the clinic's entrances were closed. Municipal and state police deployed an operation in the area. Upon arriving at the scene, officers found shell casings scattered next to the motorcycle and a tense atmosphere among residents who watched from the buildings of the housing complex. Initial lines of investigation point to a possible fraud related to the sale of a motorcycle through social media. Amalucan and other areas in eastern Puebla have seen a rise in robberies, kidnappings, and attacks in recent years linked to fake car sales arranged online—a tactic used by criminal groups to lure victims and ambush them. The injured young man was admitted to the hospital in critical condition, while the Attorney General's Office continues its investigation to locate the kidnapped man and those responsible for the attack.
