Armed civilians attacked members of the Mexican Army during patrols in the community of Atascaderos, in Guadalupe y Calvo, Chihuahua. The military response resulted in two arrests and one assailant injured. The incident occurred while military personnel were conducting patrols in the mountainous region, an area where reports of criminal groups vying for territorial control in the Sierra Tarahumara have been frequent. After repelling the attack, one of the assailants was wounded and received medical attention from the soldiers at the scene, while the other two alleged attackers were apprehended and taken into custody. Firearms were also seized at the scene, including 9mm pistols and a .38 caliber revolver, as well as tactical equipment allegedly used by the armed civilians. The detainees were identified as Juan Daniel V. S. and Jesús Manuel C. B., suspected members of a criminal group operating in the region. The Guadalupe y Calvo area has been the scene of frequent clashes and operations due to disputes between criminal groups vying for control of routes in the mountains. The case is under investigation by the relevant authorities.
