SAA event in Mexico on Sun 10th May 2026
10th May 2026
Six people were arrested after two raids carried out by federal forces in Texcoco de Mora and Chiautla, State of Mexico, where they also seized drugs, weapons, and vehicles linked to alleged illicit activities. The operations were carried out by members of the Mexican Navy and personnel from the Ministry of Security and Citizen Protection in the San Juanito and Huitznahuac neighborhoods. During the searches, they located doses with characteristics similar to marijuana, cocaine, and methamphetamine, as well as four firearms, ammunition, two vehicles, five motorcycles, and electronic devices. Witnesses present told us that the movement of federal units began early in the morning and several streets were closed while agents entered the raided properties. The eastern part of the State of Mexico has been known for years for drug trafficking and street-level drug dealing due to its connection with routes to Mexico City and municipalities in the Valley of Mexico. Texcoco and nearby municipalities have also seen constant operations against cells dedicated to robbery, drug distribution, and extortion. The six detainees were transferred to the Specialized Prosecutor's Office for Organized Crime, the authority that will define their legal status as the investigations progress.
