SAA event in Mexico on Sun 10th May 2026

A heavily armored "monster," riddled with bullet holes from heavy gunfire, was abandoned in the rural areas of Culiacán following recent clashes in the mountains. Mexican Army personnel located the vehicle, a green, single-cab Chevrolet Cheyenne, which had multiple bullet holes in its reinforced structure. Our correspondent on the scene documented the strong smell of gunpowder still emanating from the wreckage, where spent casings and tactical gear were scattered among the undergrowth. The vehicle served as a mobile shield for criminal cells operating in this region, historically contested by factions of the Sinaloa Cartel vying for control of the routes to the mountains. Six long guns were seized at the site, including M4 carbines and R-15 rifles in 5.56mm and 7.62x39mm calibers, along with 22 magazines. The Quilá and Guadalupe de los Reyes area was also the scene of the destruction of two marijuana plantations, where the military burned the drugs to prevent their harvest. The entire arsenal and the armored vehicle were transported under heavy security to the state capital. The operation continues in the surrounding area to locate those responsible for these camps and combat vehicles.
