On 8 May 2026, Russian forces (units of the 'North' group) struck (coded as shelling) the Ukrainian personnel and equipment of a mechanized brigade, a motorized infantry brigade and a territorial defense brigade (coded to Izbytske) near Mala Korchakivka, Sumy. According to Russian sources, Ukrainian military lost: 11 vehicles, two artillery pieces, an electronic warfare station and up to 100 Ukrainian servicemen were killed near Andriivka, Mala Korchakivka, Vilcha, Starytsia, Izbytske and Komarivka [Russian MoD reported 100 fatalities.
