On 8 May 2026, Russian forces (units of the 'Center' group) struck (coded as shelling) the Ukrainian personnel and equipment of two mechanized brigades, an airmobile brigade, an assault regiment and three National Guard brigades (coded to Kucheriv Yar) near Novyi Donbas, Donetsk. According to Russian sources, Ukrainian military lost: a tank, 2 armored combat vehicles, 7 automobiles, 2 field artillery pieces, 2 electronic warfare stations and up to 320 Ukrainian servicemen were killed near Novyi Donbas, Novopavlivka, Shevchenko, Myrne, Serhiivka, Kucheriv Yar, Novooleksandrivka and Torske [Russian MoD reported 320 fatalities.
