On 7 May 2026, evening, US forces targeted (coded as air/drone strikes by default) an Iranian oil tanker moving from Iranian coastal waters off Jask Port (Jask, Hormozgan). Casualties unknown. CENTCOM reported that Iranian forces launched missiles, drones, and fast attack craft at US naval vessels transiting the strait, with no reported damage, after which US forces conducted retaliatory strikes targeting Iranian launch sites and related military infrastructure. Iranian sources reported launching a large-scale combined operation involving anti-ship missiles and drones targeting US warships in the Strait of Hormuz, claiming significant damage and the withdrawal of three vessels following this attack. This took place amid the US/Israel-Iran conflict and a naval standoff and reciprocal blockade between the US and Iran in the Strait of Hormuz.
